ORB # 4-Hiroshima

You are to pick TWO of the following questions and respond to them using 10-12 sentences each.  THIS IS DUE FRIDAY, JANUARY 27th.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

A) Discuss the role of nature in Hiroshima. In what ways do naturally occurring events, such as the weather, affect the city in the wake of the atomic bomb?

B) Do you think Hersey favors some of the six characters, or presents some of them in a better light than others? Why or why not?

C) Discuss the role of family in Hiroshima. How do family ties relate to community ties in the book?

Hiroshima ORB # 2 & 3-Due Friday, January 6th

Hi 10 ADV!

I am sorry I did not realize that this didn't post on Friday.  I truly thought it had.  My apologies.  Due to the fact that it didn't post like I thought it did, this ORB will be due on Friday, 1/6/12 (not Wednesday).   Also, this is going to count as 2 ORB assignments.  Therefore, you will only have one more assignment to complete for Hiroshima.  Make sure you are keeping up on the book.

Here is the assignment:

1. List five “miraculous” occurrences or bizarre coincidences that spared lives or had other freak effects during the bomb blast or soon thereafter. Describe how you would explain such incredible events, from either a religious or a scientific viewpoint.  For each "miraculous" occurrence, answer with 6-7 sentences.  Remember, this will count as 2 ORB grades; be thorough and insightful.
